The SentriLock system is the only lockbox authorized for use by the Carroll, Harford, Howard County REALTOR® Associations and the Greater Baltimore Board of REALTORS®.
Brokers and Agents should exercise the utmost caution in authorizing or distributing the One Day Showing Codes and the Contractor Codes that can be used on the SentriLock boxes. Please refrain from indiscriminate use and distribution of the codes as indiscriminate use will transform your secure lockbox into an unsecure lockbox with security shortcomings.
One Day Showing Codes and Contractor Access Codes are not to be disclosed or given to any person or client under any circumstance, other than to a licensed broker or agent, or a licensed contractor or inspector!!!
You must adhere to the following procedures in using these SentriLock Features:
CONTRACTOR CODES
MARS recommends against using Contractor Codes and would advise using the One Day Showing Codes, because One Day Codes are more secure.
If you do decide to use a Contractor Code, its use should be limited to:
- Properties that are vacant or unoccupied with no personal property on the premises.
- Situations where it is necessary to permit a licensed contractor to gain access to the property.
- Contractors who are known to the agent or the Broker, or whose identity has been verified.
ONE DAY SHOWING CODES
Brokers and agents are advised to be extremely cautious in granting the use of One Day Showing Codes to licensed brokers, agents or contractors.
Except in very rare situations, most showing agents should already have their own SentriCard.
Do not ever give the One Day Showing Code to an agent over the phone, unless they are personally known to you!
PROCEDURES FOR USING A ONE DAY SHOWING CODE
- Obtain the caller's name and phone number, and the company name and phone number, which is required under State Licensing Regulations.
- Obtain the One Day Code by either logging onto the SentriLock Website at: lockbox.sentrilock.com or by the SentriLock Support number at 1-877-736-8745.
- Call the agent's company phone number and confirm that they are in fact a licensed agent associated with that company, before leaving the one day code, with the office or in the agent's voice mailbox.
- You are strongly advised not to leave the code, if the phone number called simply puts you into a personal or unidentified voice mail box, without allowing you to confirm the agent's status with the company.
