We are looking for both experienced and emerging leaders! Are you interested in joining our Board of Directors? We welcome volunteer leaders to apply who will enhance the Howard County Association of REALTORS® traditions of innovation, professionalism, and exemplary service to its members and community. All applicants should be a member in good standing of the Association. All Officers and Directors elected will be sworn in at the 2020 Installation on Tuesday, October 13. Officer and Director terms begin on November 1.
We are seeking applications for the following Officer and Board of Director positions:
President-Elect (1-year term)
The President-Elect position serves a one-year term. The President-Elect assumes the responsibilities of the President in his or her absence. The position also assists the President in carrying out the functions of the office and performs specific duties delegated by the President, the Executive Committee and/or the Board of Directors and is the liaison to the REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC). The President-Elect will serve on the Executive Committee. To be considered for this Officer position, all applicants must have served at least one (1) year on the HCAR Board of Directors.
Secretary (1-year term)
The Secretary position serves for a one-year term. The Secretary will keep an accurate record of the proceedings of all the meetings of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee and will serve as liaison to the Legislative Committee. The Secretary will serve on the Executive Committee. To be considered for this Officer position, all applicants must have served at least (1) year on the HCAR Board of Directors.
Four Director positions (2-year term)
The Directors serve a two-year term and cannot serve more than two consecutive full terms. The BOD sets policy, acts to ensure the success of the organization, assures that their fiduciary responsibility is to the Association, attends all Directors meetings, approves the annual budget, participates in all HCAR related functions and attends professional standards training on a yearly basis. To be considered for a Director position, all applicants must have served on an HCAR Committee(s) OR HCAR Task Force OR Maryland REALTORS® Committee for at least (1) year.
